On Tuesday the 26th of July 2016 I first pressed the publish button on this website. That's a year ago tomorrow. 105 posts later and you find yourself here; Tuesday the 25th of July 2017.
So what do I want to say in my 106th post? Doing something for a year has been a commitment, but has never been a chore, I still enjoy what I do on benpechey.com. I realise that creating content this past year has changed me and forced/allowed me to grow. However, I don’t want you to think of me as a self-obsessed promotional machine.
I will admit you have to have a certain amount of self-involvement to have a blog, I talk about myself twice a week. However, I don’t do it because I love myself, and I don’t really think of myself as a narcissist. I do realise the irony here, my name is my website, whereupon you are presented with pictures of my face, and I talk about what I do, like and share my opinions with you. This is my way of sharing my thoughts and opinions with you, I’m not obsessed with myself, just mildly interested in exploring who I am via the medium of a website.
Quite a lot of the time I ask myself: does anyone care? Why would someone read this? Well the answer is they might not, but it is what I enjoy doing, I love blogs and read other people’s content on a daily basis. So I create my content for like-minded people, and I like to think that I do a pretty good job of it.
It is obvious when I look through my previous posts that a lot can change in a year. Some things do remain the same. I share more outfit posts than I did at the beginning, now it is half of my content, this is appropriate as fashion and attitudes towards dressing is one of my biggest passions.
I was more tentative at the start of this process, and I would say now a year on I am bolder in my choices and my content. I have added new categories, that I really enjoy creating. One of the ones that I love the most is Ben Tries which I brought in at the start of 2017 and has allowed me to bring in different things onto my site.
The design of benpechey.com has stayed consistent, but after a year I wanted a change, so today I bring you the new and improved benpechey.com. Nothing huge has happened, but simple changes make a huge difference. It is mostly visuals that I have tinkered with. The font was a big change for me, going through 105 posts to change the font of all past posts takes a while and has been ‘fun’. I have also changed and developed the images you see in my outfit posts, something that you will see in this post and all my upcoming posts.
Now as I celebrate being a year old today I thought that I may as well make a week of it, after all the Queen has 2 birthdays so this queen is going to have a week-long celebration. So Instead of my normal 2 posts this week I am posting every day up to Saturday. That’s 5 posts this week, 3 more than you're used to- YOU ARE GODDAMN WELCOME !!
I want to say a massive thank you firstly to you- my readers, if you have been here since day one or if you have only just started reading. Wherever, however, and whenever you come to my blog it all counts. So stick around and see what's changed.
Secondly, I want to say thank you to the people who have helped me in the past year, if you have taken pictures for me, helped me develop content, corrected mistakes or inspired me: thank you all so much.
