We’re not over the Rainbow!

Have you seen it yet? Brands swapping out their June long rainbow logo, back for their ordinary logo?
Almost overnight it will have happened, and just like that visible commitment to caring for the LGBTQIA+ community disappears. Just Because June is over, doesn’t mean pride is.

Commitment to queer people, especially trans people needs to be 24/7, 365 days a YEAR. I know the support many of these rainbow logo toting brands was surface level, but they contributed to a conversation that keeps us in the consciousness of more people.

This conversation can help improve our lives. This awareness of the realities of our existence can help people understand the severe injustices that we are facing.
As a trans intersex person, I couldn’t be more aware of the hostile living conditions trans+ people are living in. But, for some people they’re either oblivious, ignorant, or thrilled at the state of affairs. Pride is so necessary, now more than ever. The grim predictions of 2016-2020, are now real, and we’re having to live through it.

Our need for support isn’t over just because you popped your rainbow profile picture in storage until June 2027. We see it, and we know what it signals, we are not stupid, so please don’t for a second imagine we are.
