There are no new ideas

Oh hello darling and welcome back to benpechey.com, today I want to talk to you about the theme of idea production and the ways in which we can make the world a better place. It is clear after the election in December, now more than ever, we need to be looking out for each other and ensuring that we have the best approach to consider all people.

I think when it comes to idea production, many people get hung up on the thought of creating new things, and their content being fresh and exciting. This can be a blocker to genuine production for one reason, and one reason alone. That reason is that there are no new ideas, with very few exceptions, everything is as it is, sure there can be tweaks, adaptations, digitisations, but at the core of everything, is nothing new.

You cannot reinvent the wheel, there is no possible way to create fundamental things like that. However, the fact that the wheel exists does not mean that everyone knows about it. Which means when it comes to ideas already in existence, the ones that have the most impact, are the ones that have ingenious and innovative ways of explaining the purpose of the wheel.

Knowledge is key, and the way we share knowledge is what will cause actual change. It is far less about brand new ideas, but instead new ways of understanding things already in existence. There is no new behaviour that will eradicate hate crimes against the LGBTQ+ community, but there will be radical ways to educate everyone about the unique nature in all people, and that minorities have just as much importance to society as the mainstream.

This is where we should be focusing our collective energy, on the way we educate and provide information about issues. More than ever before there are so many people using their platforms such as social media to educate in a way that will create change, without making audiences feel like they are being preached too.

In the pursuit of a better world for us all, we have to realise that none of us know it all, we must all be open to learning. I am learning all the time, if I make mistakes I will absorb that learning into the future actions I take, in essence, learning makes stronger future actions. Thus the way we teach and are taught is one of the key factors in making the world safer and better for everybody.

This shows an understanding that I am not better than anyone else, and this equality is something that we should all be aiming to adopt because this would eradicate any feeling of us and them, and make for a stronger sense of community.

So remember the wheel has already been invented, but you could be the next person to unlock new potential of the wheel through education, and that could be an amazing idea...
