Trans+ Boundaries (Touch Grass)

With the ever increasing pressure faced by trans+ people, it can be utterly exhausting just existing.
Add to this, a near constant barrage of committee findings, new government blunders, organisations coming out as right wing, and supreme courts making inept decisions, there is little to no respite for us.

I receive messages daily, asking me to respond to trans+ news, provide comment, offer solutions, share resources, and to add to the discourse. This takes a toll. This may be a little more pressured than a trans+ person who is not a public figure. But imagine the same things happening with colleagues, friends, and family members. It will have a similar effect.
Whilst I am aware I am trans+ 100% of the time. I do not have to be a special trans+ correspondent 100% of the time.
This goes for all of us.

It is not our job to be the trans+ broadcast channel.
We do not need to have an opinion on EVERY piece of trans+ news.
There is no need to constantly be raking over the news for hot takes.
Yes, this goes for trans+ people who are trans+ activists too.
My beautiful, hilarious friend and work husband Ki Griffen often says in jest that we (trans+ people) need to go outside and touch grass. I think in all seriousness that they’re right. We all need to take breaks from staring into the screaming maw that is being trans+ right now.

We’re not in this existence alone, we’re a team, a community if you will.
When you’re resting, someone else will be doing the work. There is no need for us to all be operating on 107% because we will burn out, and our survival will be threatened. Existing is enough, and may I remind you, is an act of resistance.
So put some trans+ boundaries in place, and go outside, and touch some grass.

I'm definitely feeling this at the moment! I need to go touch some grass, or at least find an equivalent to do indoors when it's cold out there and raining sideways
