A Month of Giving

Hello,

Welcome to a Month of Giving. I am opening up the digital doors of my website, giving a plethora of people from the LGBTQ+ community a space to share their work, opinions, individual viewpoints and experiences.

This is a direct response to the media constantly telling us that our existence isn’t valid. Especially for Trans and Non-Binary people that the mass media claim just doesn’t exist. This has been compounded by countless articles and debates on our very existence. 2018 has been a car crash of feelings and emotions for so many in the community, myself included.

I want this submission month to represent the community in a small way, offering 10 different pieces that represent queer to them. Whether talking about personal experiences and emotions, or their work which targets to improve the representation of the queer community.

When it comes to approaching the discourse that surrounds us, it is important to make sure you use your voice, and if you have a platform; to use it. I have my platform which I ues to bring my own perspective to my readers. A month of giving utilises and optimises what I already have. The best way to show the world that we are valid and that we exist is to TELL THEM. Thus the month of giving has its purpose.

Today I am introducing the project, which will run for the next 3 weeks. I have lined up 10 different pieces that represent all facets of the queer community. There is a mix of thought pieces, art and much more. I really hope you enjoy it. Make sure you check out everyone who has submitted, all their details are linked, say hey, tell them what you thought about their submission, give them love.

Some posts will just have a short bio about the artist with some imagery, others will be longer word pieces, the variation is what makes this submission month so exciting.

All the love, Ben xxx

PS: Don’t worry, you will still be hearing from me this month, trust me you cannot get rid of me that easily. I will still be sticking to my normal schedule and will be here every Friday.
