Have you got two minutes to chat bodies with me?

I am chronically online - and I have been sharing my life with you for nearly a decade - so nothing is really off the table. Today I want to talk about my shoulders & upper arms.

I am a bold dresser, something that I am told almost daily, and maybe to you it might seem that dressing must be so easy for me. BUT, I do have areas that I struggle with, just like many of us do.

One of these areas is my shoulders. Summer comes around, and with inevitable heatwaves, comes an opportunity to wear summer dresses with simple straps, vests, sleeveless tops, and event dressing often calls for an evening dress, often sleeveless.

Yet year on year, I end up covering down to my elbows, wearing longer sleeves, or tops under dresses. So I spend the warmer months as a big wet mess. I am on a continuous journey of self-enquiry, so when I can, I try to challenge my own thoughts.

So I have begun a flirtation with my shoulders.

Trying sleeveless numbers and having my arms out for the first time. The first outing ended in disaster as my virgin shoulder skin crisped to perfection in the sun, but once we got over that stumbling block, operation shoulder has been refreshing. As with life, most things we fret over end up being less eventful than imagined, and this was no exception.

Having my shoulders out is not the big deal I thought it would be.

My pasty upper arms have enjoyed their emancipation, and while I have used far more SPF than I used to, it has been freeing to feel the sun on my shoulders. Reflecting here with you, it is nice to be reminded that when it comes to limiting ourselves, we can step outside of those thoughts whenever we want.

It may not be as simple as turning a no into a yes, but it is very possible to make our lives less taxing simply by letting go of burdens we don’t need.

So what are you thinking about letting go of?
